Client Restoration Project

Antrim 1844

Taneytown, MD

40 guestrooms & suites, lobby & Tavern Bar, restored in 2 weeks.

Member of Historic Hotels of America.

Northern Lights Restoration was hired by Antrim 1844, a historic boutique hotel on a 24-acre estate, to restore furniture in all 40 of its uniquely furnished guest suites and the mansion lobby. We also restored the historic tavern bar, sanding down its panels to give it a refreshed look.

Located in Taneytown, Maryland, the Antrim 1844 is a historic landmark that was originally built as a manor home for Colonel Andrew Ege in the 1840s. After being sold and undergoing various renovations, the mansion was purchased in 1987 by Dorothy and Richard Mollett. They meticulously restored the property, transforming it into a luxurious bed and breakfast and eventually a 40-room boutique hotel. Now listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the Antrim 1844 is a member of Historic Hotels of America and remains a popular holiday destination.

Since 2014, Northern Lights Restoration has been the preferred restoration vendor to Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide. They have made a visible impact on our member hotels across the country, ranging from intricate armoires in the Garberville treasure Benbow Inn (1926), to the famous Grand Staircase of the Georgian landmark Jekyll Island Club Hotel (1887), to the 98 guestrooms and Tavern on the Green at the Salem staple, the Hawthorne Hotel (1925). In each instance, we have seen our hotels embracing this important element of preservation by using the skills of Northern Lights Restoration to extend the life of their historic pieces.

We are happy to recommend Bob Stephens and his team at Northern Lights Restoration to anyone considering architectural woodwork restoration/ historic preservation project.
