Northern Lights Restoration was hired by the historic Dunhill Hotel to restore the furniture in all 60 guestrooms and the lobby. We refinished full armoires and sets of room furniture. Some guestroom desks required a complete sanding, which was done using our dustless sanding system, followed by expert color matching and finishing.
First opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor, The Dunhill Hotel was built by J.P. Matheson and C.N. Peeler, founders of the Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. Designed by architect Louis Asbury Sr., the hotel initially featured 100 guestrooms, with half designated for permanent residents. After changing ownership multiple times, the building was purchased by Dunhill Hotel Associates in 1987 and reopened as The Dunhill Hotel. A member of Historic Hotels of America since 1991, it has since been restored to its former glory while retaining a classic “Old World” style.
