Northern Lights Restoration has a proud, multi-year partnership with The Mimslyn Inn. We began by restoring all 45 guestrooms, the lobby, the hotel restaurant, and the speakeasy tavern. Since then, we have continued to work with the inn on a maintenance program, helping them preserve the historic charm of the property.
Built by local hotel owners Henry and Elizabeth Mims and their family, The Mimslyn Inn opened in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley in 1931. Constructed with imported materials on the former site of the Aventine Hall estate, the elegant inn featured a gorgeous winding staircase designed by Henry’s brother, JR Mims, Sr. Known for its hospitality, it became a beloved destination and was inducted into Historic Hotels of America in 2008. Thanks to a recent multimillion-dollar renovation by the Asam family, guests can now enjoy its rich history with modern, luxurious accommodations.

I have been in the hotel business for 40 plus years. I think it safe to say I have seen everything. I have used the other guys and expected slightly better results from Northern Lights Restoration due to the number of great references I called before booking Bob and his crew. To be very clear, the results were 100 times better than any refinishing company I have ever used!
The furniture in our hotel is of high quality but light in color, making it hard to cover scratches and deep marks. I could not believe my eyes when I saw what Northern Lights did in a very short period of time. The scratches gone, marks gone, and no smell. I wanted my staff to take lessons as his staff opened doors for our guests and went out of their way to be professional in every respect.
